Oasis Guesthouse

The Oasis Guesthouse is ready for your visit! We are located in Sarteneja Village, a peaceful, small, charming village made up of fishermen, farmers, and recently, people becoming involved in the tourism industry! It's a perfect place if you want a real taste of Belizean life. Sports fisherman are enjoying the adventures found here, and locals can provide homegrown pineapple and other tropical fruit.

Sarteneja, a word that refers to a cenote (a waterfilled limestone sinkhole) has natives who are descendants of settlers from Mexico who came during the 19th Century, fleeing the Caste Wars in the Yucatan. Additionally, the indigenous Mayans found the place ideal for fishing, and the cenotes provided fresh water, so there are still Mayan ruins around, though many have been looted for rocks and artifacts.

We have four rooms available, where you can sleep peacefully to the sounds of the birds and the breeze blowing gently outside. Standing fans are provided for your convenience. A refreshing rest will help prepare you for your adventures the next day, which we can help you plan.

Our bathrooms have shiny new tile, and we have hot and cold water. You can be assured they will be clean and fresh with recently laundered linen. After a warm day outside or away, you can feel cool and refreshed.

There are chairs outside on the veranda, where you can read, listen to music, meditate, or just relax. When viewing the peaceful turquoise water, you may be inspired to go out and experience it firsthand.

We have a boat that can be used for a variety of purposes. We can pick you up and bring you to the Oasis, provide for a water tour of the area, or take you fishing.You might find locals building or repairing their own boats.

We can custom design your activities while you stay with us. We can provide meals if you would like, or arrange for tours to other parts of the country. Just let us know what you would like for your vacation.

There are several ways you can get to Sartneja. The Thunderbolt Watertaxi has two trip daily from Corozal, and Sarteneja is not a regular stop, but they will stop for you on their trip to the cayes. You can arrange for us to bring you on our boat. Just give us a call. You can also travel by car, or by small plane.
