Jan and Judy Wilson came to Belize in 1994 from Florida, USA. Jan had a lot of computer experience, and Judy had a Masters in Psychology. Within about 6 weeks, Judy had a job at Corozal Community College and Corozal Junior College as their first school counselor, because at that time there were very few qualified for that in Belize. Computer expertise was in short supply also, so a year later, Jan became a computer teacher and first network administrator at CCC/CJC. Because of those jobs, we also got permanent residency almost immediately. In 2000 we became naturalized citizens of Belize.
We began Corozal.com in 1997 as a community website for the Corozal District. Since we were so involved in CCC/CJC activities, many people thought it was the website for those schools. We gradually added events, history, and other information for the Corozal District.
In 2001 we launched another website, Corozal.bz. This listed businesses, organizations, villages, and other interests in the Corozal District. We also began doing websites for businesses and others.
We are well beyond retirement age, but we have tried to continue serving Belize with websites as long as we could. When COVID-19 came along, we reduced our prices to try to make it a little easier. We were never very good about collecting, but for some time we have actually been losing money. In mid-2023, we also began running into technical problems. So we decided to mostly retire after giving our customers months to try to find other options.
